Scholarships in Advanced Computing, IT Infrastructure, Systems and Security now available for 2020!

A Second intake of scholarships will be available from now until the 15th December 2019 for admissions in February 2020.  Those interested in applying should drop off their CV at USP Cook Islands or contact us on 29415 or email ci-ceit@usp.ac.fj for a detailed information sheet.

Students will study alongside colleagues from Nauru and Fiji. All fees, travel costs and living allowances will be provided as part of the scholarship.

1 scholarship for study in the Post Graduate Diploma in IT Infrastructure, Systems and Security (PG-DITISS)

Pre-requisites – a first degree or equivalent in IT or computing or equivalent, and sound knowledge of the fundamentals of networks, operating system concepts and the basics of Linux command.

The focus of this course is on network security, techniques of detecting attacks, securing a network from internal and external attack and the principles and practices of cryptographic techniques.

1 scholarship for study in the Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Computing (PG-DAC)

Pre-requisites – a first degree in computing or IT or equivalent and sound knowledge of fundamentals of programming, concepts of Linux and C programming

The focus of this course is on emerging trends in advanced computing, the changing face of technology and future requirements of the growing IT industry.

A condition of the scholarship is that successful graduates of the Post Graduates Diploma courses will, on return, be required to work for the Cook Islands Centre for Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT) at USP Cook Islands for 2 years.

About the Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Computing

Program Objectives:

The Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Computing (DAC) is the flagship programme of ACTS. The course is targeted towards engineers and IT professionals who wish to venture into the domain of advanced computing. The course aims to groom the students to enable them to work on current technology scenarios as well as prepare them to keep pace with the changing face of technology and the requirements of the growing IT industry. The course curriculum has been designed keeping in view the emerging trends in advanced computing as well as contemporary and futuristic human resource requirements of the ICT industry. The entire course syllabus, courseware, teaching methodology and the course delivery have been derived from the rich research and development background of C-DAC. The depth and width of the course is unique in the industry covering a wide spectrum of requirements of the ICT industry. Running successfully for more than seventeen years, the DAC course has yielded more than quarter million of students, who are well positioned in the industry today.

About the Post Graduate Diploma in IT Infrastructure, Systems & Security

Program Objectives:

The objective of this course is to enable the student to understand the concepts of network security and learn the techniques of detecting the attacks and securing a network from internal and outside attacks At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand a variety of generic security threats and vulnerabilities, understand the principles and practices of cryptographic techniques, identify and analyse particular security problems for a given application and apply appropriate security techniques to solve security problems. However, this course will not cover installation and configuration of LAN and WAN.

Qualification & Experience: BE / ME or Equivalent (AMIE, AIETE), B Sc (Engg), MCA

Pre-requisites:

Candidate should have sound knowledge of Fundamentals of Networks, Operating System Concepts and basics of Linux command.
